RNJ Transport moves loads from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany to Lithuania and Latvia. By road, these loads cross Poland. Since 1 February 2026, a vehicle of 12 tonnes or more in Euro 5 or newer pays 0.56 zł per km on motorways and expressways. About 645 km joined e-TOLL that day. Carriers include the toll in the transport price.

- Since 1 February 2026, a vehicle of 12 tonnes or more in Euro 5 or newer pays 0.56 zł per km on Polish motorways and expressways with e-TOLL. A regulation of 8 January 2026 (Dz.U. 2026 poz. 33) set the rate. In January 2026, the rate was 0.42 zł.
- About 645 km of road joined e-TOLL on 1 February 2026\. The network now covers about 5,869 km, according to the Polish tax administration (KAS).
- The rate depends on the road class, the maximum permissible mass including the trailer, and the Euro emission class. Vehicles over 3.5 and under 12 tonnes pay less, and buses pay the same as that lighter category.
- Carriers send the position of each vehicle through the free e-TOLL PL app, an on-board unit or an external location system, or they pay through an EETS provider.
- For 2027, a draft regulation of 12 October 2026 adds about 880 km from 16 March 2027\. The Public Roads Act also raises the rates each year in line with consumer prices.

## e-TOLL rates from 1 February 2026

Poland’s e-TOLL charges vehicles over 3.5 tonnes and buses per kilometre on tolled national roads. A Council of Ministers regulation of 8 January 2026 set new rates from 1 February 2026\. A vehicle of 12 tonnes or more in Euro 5 or newer now pays 0.56 zł per km on motorways and expressways. In January 2026, it paid 0.42 zł.

New rates

Polish e-TOLL: 0.56 zł per km since February 2026

Rate for a vehicle of 12 tonnes or more in Euro 5 or newer on motorways and expressways.

- January 2026 0.42 zł/km
- From 1 February 2026 0.56 zł/km
1. 1 Jan 2026
Rates for 2026 from the Minister’s notice: 0.42 zł per km.
2. 1 Feb 2026
New rates: 0.56 zł per km. About 645 km join e-TOLL.
3. 16 Mar 2027
Target date in a draft: about 880 km more road.

The 16 March 2027 date comes from a draft regulation of 12 October 2026\. The draft can still change.

Dz.U. 2026 poz. 33; M.P. 2025 poz. 1244; KAS, 20 January 2026; draft RD341 of 12 October 2026; checked 24 October 2026

The rate depends on three things: the road class, the maximum permissible mass of the vehicle and its Euro emission class. Motorways (class A) and expressways (class S) cost more than main roads (classes GP and G). The mass includes the maximum permissible mass of the trailer or semi-trailer. A tractor unit with a semi-trailer for 40 tonnes is in the category of 12 tonnes or more.

Vehicles over 3.5 and under 12 tonnes pay less. In Euro 5 or newer, they pay 0.41 zł per km on A and S roads and 0.34 zł on GP and G roads. Buses pay the same rates as this lighter category. The Polish National Revenue Administration (KAS) runs e-TOLL. The January 2026 rates came from a notice of the Minister of Infrastructure of 3 December 2025.

## Toll roads in Poland and the 645 new kilometres

On 1 February 2026, about 645 km of road joined e-TOLL, according to the Polish tax administration. Most new sections extend roads that already had the toll. Since then, about 5,869 km of motorways, expressways and selected national roads carry the toll. The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) manages these roads.

The regulation lists every tolled section by name. Several of them lie on the road from Germany to Lithuania. The A2 motorway has the toll from Modła Królewska, near Konin, to Konotopa, near Warsaw. The S8 expressway has it from Konotopa to Choroszcz, near Białystok. The S61 expressway has it from the Lithuanian border at Budzisko to the Kolno junction, and from Łomża Zachód to Ostrów Mazowiecka Północ.

Three motorway sections are run by concession companies and charge their own toll. They are the A2 from Świecko, at the German border, to Konin (255 km), the A1 from Rusocin to Nowa Wieś (152 km) and the A4 from Katowice to Kraków (61 km). Each concession company publishes its own rates. This post covers e-TOLL only.

## How the e-TOLL charge is calculated

The e-TOLL charge is the number of kilometres on tolled roads multiplied by the rate per kilometre. The Public Roads Act has three vehicle categories: over 3.5 and under 12 tonnes, 12 tonnes or more, and buses. The regulation then sets the rate for each category by road class and Euro emission class.

Registration in e-TOLL is mandatory for the owners, users and holders of vehicles over 3.5 tonnes and of buses. The carrier enters each vehicle in the account, with its maximum permissible mass and its Euro class. These two values and the road class set the rate.

The Public Roads Act links the rates to prices. Each year, the rates for the next year rise in line with the consumer price index for the first three quarters. The Minister of Infrastructure then publishes them in the official journal Monitor Polski. The notice with the rates for 2026 is dated 3 December 2025.

## How foreign carriers pay e-TOLL

Every vehicle on tolled roads must send its position to e-TOLL. The carrier registers in e-TOLL and links each vehicle to a location device. The device can be the free e-TOLL PL app, an on-board unit (OBU) or an external location system (ELS). Carriers with a European Electronic Toll Service (EETS) contract can pay through their provider.

The carrier pays from a prepaid account or by periodic payment with a security deposit. Since 1 February 2026, each kilometre costs more, so a carrier on periodic payment checks that the deposit still covers its trips. The tax administration offers a deposit calculator on etoll.gov.pl. Carriers can also register online, at a customer service point or through a fleet card operator.

Before a trip on Polish toll roads, carriers check three things.

- The e-TOLL account shows the right Euro class and the right maximum permissible mass with the trailer.
- The location device is on and linked to the right vehicle for every trip on tolled roads.
- On periodic payment, the security deposit fits the new rates.

## Changes announced for 2027

Two changes are planned for 2027\. The Public Roads Act raises the rates each year in line with consumer prices, and the Minister of Infrastructure publishes the new rates in Monitor Polski. On 24 October 2026, we found no notice with the rates for 2027 yet. The notice for 2026 came on 3 December 2025.

The Ministry of Infrastructure also published a draft regulation on 12 October 2026\. The draft adds about 880 km of new motorways, expressways and selected national roads to e-TOLL. The target date is 16 March 2027\. The government plans to adopt the draft in the fourth quarter of 2026\. The draft does not yet name the roads or new rates.

Today the network has about 5,870 km, according to the draft. With 880 km more, it would have about 6,750 km. A draft can still change, so we check the final text when the government adopts it.

## Poland on our lanes and the price of freight

Our main lanes run from the Netherlands and Belgium to Lithuania and Latvia, and between Germany and the Baltic states. By road, these loads cross Poland, so the Polish toll is part of the cost of each trip. With RNJ Transport, road tolls are included in the one price we agree with you for the load. You get one invoice.

The Polish toll on a load depends on the kilometres on tolled roads, the vehicle and the date. Other countries on the route charge their own tolls. For a price, send the route, the date and the load size in the request form.

- Ask for one price that includes all road tolls on the route.
- Send both full addresses when you ask for a price. The route sets the kilometres on Polish toll roads.
- For contracts that run into 2027, agree in writing how the price covers road tolls.

## Worked example: e-TOLL per 100 km and per 500 km

The example shows the e-TOLL charge for 100 km and 500 km on tolled Polish roads. The numbers are an illustration only and show the toll alone. The toll is the rate per km multiplied by the kilometres. The example counts every kilometre as a tolled road of the class in the row.

The euro amounts use the European Central Bank reference rate of 23 October 2026: 1 EUR is 4.3945 zł. The real amount is in the carrier’s e-TOLL account or on the EETS provider’s invoice. Concession motorways charge their own toll on top.

## Frequently asked questions

1. How much is the Polish truck toll per km?

0.56 zł per km for a vehicle of 12 tonnes or more in Euro 5 or newer on motorways and expressways, since 1 February 2026\. On main roads in the GP and G classes, the same vehicle pays 0.42 zł. A Euro 4 vehicle pays 0.75 zł on motorways and expressways. At the ECB rate of 23 October 2026, 0.56 zł is about 0.13 EUR.
2. When did the e-TOLL rates change?
On 1 February 2026\. A Council of Ministers regulation of 8 January 2026, published as Dz.U. 2026 poz. 33, set the new rates and added about 645 km to the network. In January 2026, the rates from the Minister of Infrastructure’s notice of 3 December 2025 applied. For a vehicle of 12 tonnes or more in Euro 5 or newer, that was 0.42 zł per km.
3. How many kilometres of road have the Polish toll?
About 5,869 km since 1 February 2026, according to the Polish tax administration. The network covers motorways, expressways and selected national roads managed by GDDKiA. Three concession motorway sections on the A1, A2 and A4 charge their own toll. A draft regulation of 12 October 2026 would add about 880 km more from 16 March 2027.
4. Do foreign trucks need an on-board unit in Poland?
No. A foreign carrier can use the free e-TOLL PL app, an on-board unit or an external location system, or pay through an EETS provider. The carrier registers in e-TOLL and links each vehicle to its location device. With an EETS contract, the carrier follows the provider’s instructions. Check the details on etoll.gov.pl or with the provider.
5. Will the Polish toll change in 2027?
Probably, in two ways. The Public Roads Act raises the rates each year in line with consumer prices, and the Minister of Infrastructure publishes them in Monitor Polski. On 24 October 2026, the notice for 2027 was not yet published. A draft regulation also adds about 880 km from 16 March 2027\. The government plans to adopt it in the fourth quarter of 2026.
6. Who pays the Polish toll on my load?
The carrier pays it. The owner, user or holder of the vehicle registers in e-TOLL and pays for the kilometres on tolled roads. The toll then becomes part of the transport price. The amount depends on the route, the vehicle and the date. With RNJ Transport, road tolls are included in the one price we agree for your load, and you get one invoice.
