The district also has makers of wood products, rubber products, plastics, faux fur and sewn goods. Most of them work in three towns: Skuodas, Mosėdis and Ylakiai. In Skuodas itself, a rubber-products plant and a construction firm are the main companies. Skuodas is small, with about 5,100 people in the town and 14,700 in the whole municipality. A road runs north from the town to Priekule in Latvia, about 25 km away. Other roads lead to Kretinga, Mažeikiai and Plungė, and the road between Kretinga and Mažeikiai crosses the district. To the south-west, the Būtingė crossing near the coast is about 43 km away. The Polish border at Kalvarija is about 330 km from Skuodas. So loads for Germany can also travel by ferry from Klaipėda to Kiel. Which roads lead from Skuodas into Latvia? The nearest is the road north to Priekule, about 25 km from Skuodas. The Būtingė crossing near the coast and the Ezere crossing through Mažeikiai are the other two. We choose the crossing by the delivery address.
