# Road freight for importers that buy EXW or FCA

RNJ Transport collects goods for importers in Lithuania and Latvia that buy EXW or FCA from suppliers in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. Our strongest lane runs from the Netherlands and Belgium to Lithuania and Latvia. We check the supplier’s dock details, send the truck numbers before loading and deliver to your warehouse. You get one invoice.

- Under the Incoterms 2020 rules EXW and FCA, the buyer books and pays the main transport, so the importer is our customer.
- The strongest lane of RNJ Transport runs from the Netherlands and Belgium to Lithuania and Latvia. Many Lithuanian carriers’ trucks run it every day.
- Under EXW, the supplier has no duty to load the truck. Under FCA at the supplier’s premises, the supplier loads.
- EU goods from the Netherlands, Belgium or Germany to Lithuania need no customs declaration. A CMR consignment note travels with every load.
- Before loading, RNJ Transport sends the truck and trailer numbers, so you can send them to the supplier.

## Purchases on EXW or FCA terms

Under the Incoterms 2020 rules EXW and FCA, the buyer books and pays the main transport. So when your company buys on these terms, you choose the forwarder. Under FCA at the supplier’s premises, the supplier loads the truck. Under EXW, the supplier only makes the goods ready, and the buyer must arrange the loading.

In practice, the supplier’s staff usually load the truck under EXW too. Write it in the purchase order, so both sides agree before the truck arrives. ICC suggests FCA rather than EXW for export sales. If the supplier should deliver to your door, buy DAP, and the supplier books the truck.

## What we need about the supplier’s dock

A collection runs well when the truck comes to the right gate, in the loading hours, with the right reference. Before we book the truck, we need the supplier’s full address, its loading hours, the loading reference and who loads. Ask the supplier for these details together with the ready notice. The table shows why the driver needs each one.

__Supplier dock details for a collection__
| Detail | Why we need it |
| ---------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Full address with postcode, dock or gate | Large sites have several gates. The driver goes to the right one. |
| Loading hours and any time slot | We plan the arrival inside the hours. Some warehouses need a booked slot. |
| Loading or pickup reference | The supplier’s warehouse finds your goods by this number. |
| Who loads, and how | A forklift from the side or from the back decides the trailer. |
| Pallet count, sizes and gross weight | We check that the goods fit one truck. |
| Contact person at the supplier | We call this person if the arrival time changes. |
| Documents the supplier gives the driver | The invoice or the delivery note travels with the CMR. |

## Collection from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany

RNJ Transport’s strongest lane runs from the Netherlands and Belgium to Lithuania and Latvia. Many Lithuanian carriers’ trucks run this lane every day, so there are many trucks to choose from. Loads from Germany to the Baltic states also travel with checked partner carriers. We check every partner carrier before every load.

Goods that move between EU countries need no customs declaration. A CMR consignment note travels with every international load. We do not carry dangerous goods (ADR). If the load includes items such as lithium batteries or perfume, tell us before booking.

## Truck numbers, delivery and documents for your file

Before loading, we send you the truck and trailer numbers. Send them to the supplier, so the warehouse knows which truck comes for your goods. We follow the loading and the trip, and we tell you if the arrival time changes. The truck delivers to your warehouse, in your receiving hours or a booked slot.

After delivery, you get a copy of the signed CMR and one invoice from RNJ Transport, also when a partner carrier drives. If your company must approve us as a supplier first, our Supplier documents page lists our company data and the documents we send.

## Frequently asked questions

1. What is the difference between EXW and FCA for our collection?
The loading and the risk. Under EXW, you arrange the loading, and the risk passes to you before it starts. Under FCA at the supplier’s premises, the supplier loads the truck, and the risk passes after loading. In both rules, you book and pay the truck. ICC suggests FCA for export sales. Our Incoterms guide explains every rule that fits a truck.
2. What if the supplier’s goods are not ready on the day?
Tell us as soon as the supplier tells you. We agree a new loading date with the carrier. A new date or waiting time at the supplier can change the price. So ask the supplier to confirm the ready date in writing before we book the truck. A written ready notice also helps your own warehouse plan the delivery.
3. Do you collect machines from suppliers in Germany or the Netherlands?
Yes, as full truckloads. Send us the size and weight of the largest piece and how the supplier loads it: by forklift or crane, from the side or from the back. We choose the trailer to match. Under the CMR Convention, the carrier’s liability is limited to 8.33 SDR per kg. For a valuable machine, check cargo insurance before loading.
4. What do you need from our warehouse?
Your receiving hours, the unloading address and a contact person. If your warehouse books slots, send the slot time and the booking number, and we give them to the driver. Tell us if the truck must unload from the side or from the back. Your warehouse counts the packages and signs the CMR at delivery.
5. Can you send documents for our supplier file?
Yes. If your company approves suppliers before the first order, we send a supplier pack by email on request. It holds the registry extract, the VAT registration, a copy of our EU licence and our bank details letter. We also complete your supplier questionnaire. Our Supplier documents page lists our company data.
