Route from Lithuania to Estonia

The usual road route from Klaipėda to Tallinn is about 620 km long. The truck drives north through Šiauliai and enters Latvia at Meitene. After Riga, it follows the A1 road along the coast to the Estonian border at Ainaži and Ikla. In Estonia, road 4 leads through Pärnu to Tallinn.

Under EU rules, the trip is longer than one driver may drive in one day. With one driver, the trip includes a daily rest. With two drivers, the truck can drive without the long stop. Your loading and delivery addresses change the distance, so we plan the truck for your exact addresses.

Road charges and driving rules for trucks in Estonia

Estonia charges trucks for a period of time, not per kilometre. The road user charge covers trucks over 3,500 kg and their trailers on public roads. The rate depends on the total mass of the truck and trailer, the number of axles and the emission class. Trucks registered in other countries pay it too.

The carrier buys the charge for 1 day, 7 days, 30 days, 90 days or 365 days, for example at teetasu.ee. The driver may start the trip only after the charge is paid. On the way, the truck also crosses Latvia and pays the Latvian road user charge. RNJ Transport includes all road charges in the price we agree with you.

Estonia has no general weekend or public holiday driving ban for trucks. On public holidays, many warehouses are closed, and some Estonian holidays are not holidays in Lithuania. Ask the loading site and the receiver for their closed days before you book.

Both countries are in the EU customs territory, so EU goods travel between them without an export declaration and without customs formalities. Every load travels with a CMR consignment note. Add the invoice and a packing list, so the receiver can check the goods at delivery.

If the route crosses a country outside the EU, the load travels with a transit document. Goods from outside the EU that are not yet cleared also need a transit document. Tell us before loading.
