Full truckloads across borders

A full truckload (FTL) means one shipper pays for the whole trailer, and the truck drives direct from pickup to delivery. A standard curtainsider trailer takes 33 euro pallets, about 13.6 loading metres and about 24 tonnes. Your goods stay on one truck, and nobody else handles them on the way.

We focus on full truckloads. We also arrange air freight through partners.

Documents for an international load

An international road load inside the EU needs a CMR consignment note and your own delivery papers. EU goods moving between EU countries need no export declaration. Norway is outside the EU, so loads to and from Norway cross a customs border and need customs papers. Tell us about customs needs before loading. Our partner customs broker can prepare the declarations.

Liability on international loads

Every international road load in Europe falls under the CMR Convention. Under the CMR Convention, the carrier is liable for loss or damage up to 8.33 SDR per kilogram of gross weight, which is about 10 euros per kilogram. For a 20-tonne load, the carrier’s liability stops at about 200,000 euros, whatever the goods are worth.

If your goods are worth more, tell us their value when you book, so we can talk about cover before the truck leaves.

How the price is set

The price for an international load is one fixed price for your route and date. The distance, the load size, the weight and the date all change it. We keep the price we give you. Send the route, the date and the load size in the price form, or call us.

Our Prices page explains each price factor.

Frequently asked questions

  1. Which countries do you cover?

Our main routes are the Netherlands and Belgium to Lithuania and Latvia, Lithuania with Sweden and Norway, and Germany with the Baltic states. We also arrange loads to and from other EU countries. RNJ Transport does not transport goods to or from Russia or Belarus.

  2. Do I need customs papers for a load inside the EU?

No. EU goods moving between EU countries need no export or import declaration. The load needs a CMR consignment note and your delivery papers. Loads to or from Norway are different, because Norway is outside the EU and the goods cross a customs border.

  3. What is a CMR consignment note?

A CMR consignment note is the standard transport document for international road loads in Europe. The sender, the carrier and the receiver sign it. The note shows what was loaded, where, and in what condition it arrived. We send you the signed CMR after delivery.

  4. How long does a load from the Netherlands to Lithuania take?

Ask us for your dates. The transit time changes with the pickup place, the delivery place, weekends and the truck we find. Tell us your latest delivery date, and we plan the truck around it. We confirm the loading and delivery dates together with the price, before you book.

  5. How is the price for an international load set?

We give one fixed price for each load. The price changes with the distance, the load size and weight, and the date. Send the route, the date and the load size in the price form, or call us.

  6. Do you also carry loads to Latvia and Estonia?

Yes. We arrange loads to and from Latvia and Estonia, mostly with checked partner carriers. Loads from the Netherlands and Belgium to Latvia are one of our main routes. The documents are the same as for Lithuania: a CMR consignment note and your delivery papers. You keep the same contact person and get one invoice.
