Norway with checked partner carriers

RNJ Transport moves loads to and from Norway with checked partner carriers. We check the carrier before we book the truck. We plan the route, the documents and the timing with you, and we stay your one contact until delivery. You get one invoice from RNJ Transport.

A truck to Norway often drives through Sweden. It must then meet the rules of both countries. Tell us the full route when you book.

Export and import declarations for Norway

Norway is in the European Economic Area (EEA), but it is not in the EU customs union. Goods that cross the Norwegian border need an export declaration on one side and an import declaration on the other.

We arrange these declarations through our partner customs broker. Send the invoice and the commodity codes early, so the truck does not wait at the border.

Digitoll: data before the border

Since 15 September 2026, every truck with goods for Norway must send transport and goods data to Norwegian Customs digitally, at the latest at the border crossing. The driver is responsible by law, but a customs representative can send the messages.

From 1 March 2027, the Norwegian customs declaration is also due by the crossing. The exporter, the Norwegian buyer and the carrier agree early who sends each message. If you have no customs broker, our partner broker can make the declarations. The earlier the data arrives, the more likely the truck can cross without a stop.

Winter rules for trucks in Norway

From 1 November to the first Sunday after Easter Monday, trucks over 3.5 tonnes in most of Norway need at least 5 mm of tread and snow chains on board. In Nordland, Troms and Finnmark, the period runs from 16 October to 30 April.

In winter, a truck in Norway may wait for a convoy or for a mountain pass to open. Agree a delivery window with the receiver, and book early.

How a load runs between Lithuania and Norway

A load between Lithuania and Norway runs in these steps, from your first call to the invoice. The customs papers and the Digitoll data must be ready before the truck reaches the border, so we start with them.

  1. You send the route and the goods data

Send the addresses, the date, the pallets or loading metres, the weight, the invoice and the commodity codes.

  2. We book a checked carrier

We find a partner truck for your dates and check the carrier.

  3. You get a fixed price

We confirm the price and the planned loading and delivery days.

  4. Customs papers

The export and import declarations and the Digitoll data are ready before the border.

  5. Loading and transport

Price factors on this route

The price on this route depends on the distance, road tolls, any ferry crossing and the customs paperwork. Send the addresses, the date and the load size, and we give you a fixed price. Ask us if the customs declarations are part of the price for your load.

Frequently asked questions

  1. Do I need customs documents for goods to Norway?

Yes. Norway is not in the EU customs union, so goods need an export declaration when they leave the EU and an import declaration in Norway. We arrange the declarations through our partner customs broker. The truck also carries a CMR consignment note and the invoice.

  2. What is Digitoll?

Digitoll is the Norwegian Customs system for goods that arrive by road. Since 15 September 2026, transport and goods data must reach Norwegian Customs digitally, at the latest at the border crossing. The driver is responsible, and a customs representative can send the data for the driver.

  3. Can you carry goods from Norway to Lithuania?

Yes. We move loads in both directions with checked partner carriers. A load from Norway needs a Norwegian export declaration first. The goods then enter the EU on the way to Lithuania and need an EU import declaration.

  4. Do your own trucks go to Norway?

No. Our own trucks mostly run between Lithuania and Sweden. Loads to and from Norway go with checked partner carriers. You keep the same contact person at RNJ Transport and get one invoice from us.

  5. Do trucks need snow chains in Norway?

Yes, from 1 November to the first Sunday after Easter Monday in most of Norway. In Nordland, Troms and Finnmark, the period runs from 16 October to 30 April. A truck over 3.5 tonnes also needs at least 5 mm of tread in this period.
