Tolls and driving bans for trucks in Italy
Italian motorways charge a toll for each kilometre. On most motorways, the driver takes a ticket at the entry and pays at the exit. The price depends on the distance, the vehicle class and the type of section, because mountain sections cost more. A truck with five or more axles is in class 5. Our price includes the toll.
Italy bans trucks over 7.5 t on roads outside built-up areas on Sundays, public holidays and some summer days. A decree of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport sets the calendar for each year. For a truck coming from abroad with the right documents, the ban starts four hours later. For a truck going abroad, it ends two hours earlier.
The decree also lists more ban days around Easter and other holidays. We plan loading and delivery days around these hours.

Winter rules for trucks in Italy
From 15 November to 15 April, many Italian roads require winter tyres or snow chains on board. Road signs show the sections where the rule applies. The rule applies even when there is no snow. The road owner sets it and may use other dates, for example in mountain areas.
Winter tyres carry the M+S mark. A truck with other tyres must carry snow chains. Snow can slow a truck in the Alps, so agree a delivery window with the receiver.
