Road freight between Lithuania and the Netherlands

RNJ Transport moves full truckloads from the Netherlands to Lithuania and Latvia. Many trucks run this route every week, so we can usually find a checked truck for your date. We collect goods, for example, in the Rotterdam, Venlo and Tilburg areas. Loads from Lithuania to the Netherlands go on request with checked partner carriers.

  • The Netherlands is on one of our main routes. RNJ Transport collects full truckloads there for Lithuania and Latvia, with checked partner carriers.
  • Since 1 July 2026, trucks over 3.5 tonnes pay a Dutch truck toll per kilometre. A Euro 6 diesel truck over 32 tonnes in CO2 class 1 pays 0.156 EUR per km until 31 December 2026 and 0.206 EUR per km from 1 January 2027.

Dutch truck toll

Since 1 July 2026, trucks over 3.5 tonnes pay a toll per kilometre in the Netherlands, called vrachtwagenheffing. The toll applies on almost all motorways and on some provincial and municipal roads. Dutch and foreign trucks pay the same rates. The rate depends on the truck’s weight class, CO2 emission class and Euro class.

Each truck needs a contract with an approved toll service provider and an on-board unit (OBU). The OBU must be on during every trip in the Netherlands, also on roads without toll. The Eurovignette for the Netherlands ended on 1 July 2026.

From 1 September to 31 December 2026, all Dutch toll rates are 22.3% lower. On 1 January 2027, the discount ends. The 2027 rates are slightly higher than the rates before 1 September 2026. The carrier pays the toll. Road tolls are part of the one price we agree for your load.

Driving rules for trucks in the Netherlands

The Netherlands has no general truck driving ban on weekends or public holidays. On motorways with three or more lanes in one direction, trucks and vehicle combinations longer than 7 m must stay in the two right lanes. Local rules still apply, for example city zones and road signs.

From 2025 to 2030, 28 Dutch cities and Schiphol airport introduce zero-emission zones for vans and trucks. A Euro 6 tractor unit first registered from 2017 to 2024 may enter these zones until 1 January 2030. Tell us if loading or delivery is in a city centre, so we book a truck that may enter the zone.

On the way to Lithuania, the truck crosses Germany, which has a Sunday ban for trucks. Our article on holiday driving bans lists the German and Polish dates around Christmas and New Year.

Documents for loads between Lithuania and the Netherlands

Both countries are in the EU customs territory, so EU goods travel between them without an export declaration and without customs formalities. Every load travels with a CMR consignment note. Add the invoice and a packing list, so the receiver can check the goods at delivery.

If the route crosses a country outside the EU, the load travels with a transit document. Goods from outside the EU that are not yet cleared also need a transit document. Tell us before loading.

Frequently asked questions

  1. Do I need customs documents for a load from the Netherlands to Lithuania?

No, not for EU goods. The Netherlands and Lithuania are both in the EU, so EU goods need no export declaration and no import declaration. The load travels with a CMR consignment note. Add the invoice and a packing list, so the receiver can check the goods. Goods from outside the EU that customs has not cleared need a transit document.

  2. How long does the drive from Klaipėda to Amsterdam take?

About 65 hours with one driver and about 39 hours with two drivers, for about 1,800 km. This is the driving time under EU driving and rest rules, at 60 km/h on average. It is not a delivery promise. We give the planned delivery date with the price.

  3. Who pays the Dutch truck toll?

The carrier pays it. The truck owner holds the toll contract and the on-board unit, and gets the invoice from the service provider. For you, the toll is part of the transport price. RNJ Transport includes road tolls in the one price we agree for your load, and you get one invoice.

  4. Do you also carry loads from Lithuania to the Netherlands?

Yes, on request. We arrange loads from Lithuania to the Netherlands with checked partner carriers. Before booking, we check that a partner carrier can take the route on your dates. You keep one contact person from the first call to the signed CMR, and you get one invoice from RNJ Transport.

  5. Can trucks drive in the Netherlands on Sundays?

Yes. The Netherlands has no general truck driving ban on Sundays or public holidays. A load from the Netherlands to Lithuania still crosses Germany. In Germany, trucks over 7.5 tonnes may not drive on Sundays and public holidays from 00:00 to 22:00, with some exceptions. We plan the loading day with this in mind.
