Frequently asked questions
This page answers the questions shippers ask RNJ Transport before they book. The answers cover prices, routes, documents, insurance and how to check our company. For a question about your own load, send it in the price form or call us.
Booking and prices
-
How do I get a price for my load?
Send the route, date and load size in the price form. Tell us the pickup and delivery places, the loading date, the number of pallets or loading metres, the weight and the type of goods. We call you back and give you a fixed price for that route and date. For an urgent load, call us during working hours.
-
What does the price of road freight depend on?
The price depends on the route, the size and weight of the load, and the date. Distance and road tolls set the base. We give one price for the whole truck. Urgent loads, temperature control and loading places far from main roads cost more. Our Prices page explains each factor.
-
Do you have a price list?
No. RNJ Transport does not publish a price list, because every load is different. The price changes with the route, the date, the load size and the trucks available that week. We give a fixed price for each load before you book. Send the route, date and load size in the price form, or call us.
-
How do I book a load with RNJ Transport?
You book by phone or email after you accept our price. We send an order confirmation with the route, the dates, the price and the payment terms. You confirm it, and we choose the truck. Before loading, you get the truck and trailer plate numbers and the driver’s phone number.
-
When do I pay for transport?
You pay on the terms in your order confirmation. We agree payment terms with each client before the first load. After delivery, you get one invoice from RNJ Transport with a copy of the signed CMR. You get one invoice also when a partner carrier drives your load.
Routes and loads
-
Which countries does RNJ Transport cover?
Our main routes are the Netherlands and Belgium to Lithuania and Latvia, Lithuania with Sweden and Norway, and Germany with the Baltic states. Our own trucks run mostly between Lithuania and Sweden. For other EU countries we arrange single loads with checked partner carriers. Send your route in the price form, or call us. We tell you if we can take it.
-
Do you transport part loads?
We focus on full truckloads. We take a part load only in some cases, when it fits a truck we already plan on our main routes. For one or two pallets, a pallet delivery company is often a better fit. Send your load details in the price form, and we tell you if we can take it.
-
What is the difference between a full load and a part load?
A full load (FTL) uses the whole trailer for one shipper. A standard curtainsider trailer takes 33 euro pallets, about 13.6 loading metres and about 24 tonnes. A part load uses only part of the trailer and shares the truck with other loads. A full load goes direct, while a part load may stop on the way. We focus on full truckloads.
-
Do you carry dangerous goods (ADR)?
No. RNJ Transport does not carry dangerous goods under ADR. Tell us what your goods are when you ask for a price.
-
Do you transport temperature-controlled goods?
Yes, on partner reefer trucks. RNJ Transport does not own reefer trailers. For chilled or frozen goods, we book a checked partner carrier with a reefer trailer. Tell us the temperature your goods need when you ask for a price. We tell you if we can find a suitable truck for your route.
-
How long does transport from the Netherlands to Lithuania take?
We confirm the loading and delivery dates for each load before you book. The transit time changes with the exact pickup and delivery places, the loading day and the weekend driving rules on the way. Send your addresses and dates in the price form. You get the planned delivery date together with the price.
-
Do you transport goods to Russia or Belarus?
No. RNJ Transport does not transport goods to or from Russia or Belarus. We work on routes inside the European Union and to Norway. Our main routes connect the Baltic states with the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Sweden and Norway. If your goods go further east, we cannot help.
Documents and insurance
-
What is a CMR consignment note?
A CMR consignment note is the transport document for every international road load. The CMR Convention sets its rules. The note names the sender, the carrier and the receiver, and describes the goods. The sender, the driver and the receiver sign it. After delivery, RNJ Transport sends you a copy of the signed CMR.
-
Do I need a customs declaration for a load inside the EU?
No, not for goods in free circulation inside the EU. A load from the Netherlands to Lithuania needs no export or import declaration. The load travels with a CMR consignment note and your commercial documents, such as an invoice or a delivery note. Goods from outside the EU, and excise goods such as alcohol, follow separate rules.
-
Is my load insured?
Your load is covered by the carrier’s liability under the CMR Convention, up to a limit. The limit is 8.33 SDR per kilogram of gross weight, about 10 euros per kilogram. That limit is low for valuable goods. If your goods are worth more, tell us their value when you book, so we can talk about cover before the truck leaves.
-
Which documents do I get after delivery?
You get a copy of the signed CMR consignment note and one invoice from RNJ Transport. The CMR shows that the receiver accepted the goods, and any notes about damage or missing items. Keep it with your invoice. Before loading, you also get the truck and trailer plate numbers and the driver’s phone number.
-
How do you check the carriers you use?
We check every partner carrier before every load. We look at the EU licence, the company register status and debts, and the CMR liability insurance certificate. We call the carrier on a number we already know. Before loading, we get the truck and trailer plates. We do not give your load to a second company without telling you.
