Road route from Lithuania to Serbia

The fastest road route from Klaipėda to Belgrade is about 1,860 km. It runs through Poland, Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary. The truck leaves the EU at the Röszke border crossing in Hungary and enters Serbia at Horgoš. From there, the A1 motorway runs south through Novi Sad to Belgrade.

RNJ Transport books a checked partner carrier for this route. Before booking, we check that the carrier can take your load to Serbia, or from Serbia to Lithuania. Serbia uses Central European Time, one hour behind Lithuania.

Road rules for trucks in Serbia

Serbian motorways charge tolls by section and vehicle class. A truck with four or more axles, such as a tractor with a semi-trailer, is in class IV. Since 1 January 2026, class IV trucks must pay the toll electronically, with a TAG device. On the Belgrade bypass, the TAG must be registered on the Toll4All platform.

Serbia has no general weekend or holiday ban for trucks. Towns can limit trucks on some streets or at some hours. Road signs show these limits.

From 1 November to 1 April, vehicles in Serbia need winter equipment when there is snow or ice on the road. For trucks, this equipment includes snow chains for at least two driven wheels and a shovel.

Customs and documents for Serbia

Serbia is not in the EU customs union, so goods cross a customs border. A load from Lithuania needs an EU export declaration in Lithuania and an import declaration in Serbia. Serbia is a party to the Common Transit Convention, so a transit declaration in NCTS (common transit) can take the goods to a customs office in Serbia.

A TIR carnet can also cover the trip. Before booking, we explain which documents your load needs. We arrange the customs declarations with a trusted partner. Send the invoice, the packing list and the commodity codes early, so the declarations are ready before loading.
