Road freight for furniture and wood products

RNJ Transport arranges road freight for furniture and wood products from Klaipėda, Lithuania. Our own trucks run between Lithuania and Sweden. Partner carriers take loads to Norway, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium, and imports to Lithuania and Latvia. We plan each truck by loading metres, packing and the warehouse slot. You get one contact person.

  • RNJ Transport arranges furniture and wood product loads between Lithuania and Sweden on our own trucks, mostly as full loads.
  • Furniture fills a trailer by volume long before it reaches the weight limit, so the price follows loading metres.
  • A curtainsider trailer is covered but not insulated, so wrap furniture in film against moisture.
  • One truck can collect or deliver at several addresses when the addresses lie on one route.
  • Furniture loads to Norway need customs declarations, because Norway is outside the EU.

Furniture and wood products we arrange

RNJ Transport arranges trucks for finished furniture and for the wood products that furniture makers use. A typical load is a full truck of furniture from a Lithuanian factory to a customer in Sweden, Norway, Germany or the Netherlands. Retailers and importers in Lithuania and Latvia also bring furniture from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.

Our director planned transport for six years at the Lithuanian branch of Skeidar Living Group, a Norwegian furniture retailer. In that job, he worked with furniture factories in Lithuania and abroad.

The trade term (Incoterms) decides who books the truck. A Lithuanian maker that sells DAP books the export truck to the customer’s warehouse. A Lithuanian or Latvian importer that buys EXW or FCA books the truck from the supplier.

Trucks and loading for furniture

Most furniture travels on a standard curtainsider trailer. The trailer is about 13.6 m long, about 2.45 m wide and about 2.7 m high inside, with about 24 tonnes of payload. Furniture fills that space long before it reaches the weight limit. Pallets load by forklift from the side or the back. Cartons on the floor load by hand.

A curtainsider is covered but not insulated. Wrap furniture in film against moisture and dust, and protect corners and fronts. Stack goods only as the packaging allows. Mark the stacking rule on each carton and tell us when you book.

Wood panels and sawn timber are heavy for their size. Check the weight as well as the space. Heavy packs can reach the weight limit of the trailer before the floor is full.

Routes for furniture loads

RNJ Transport arranges furniture loads on these routes. Our own trucks run mostly full loads between Lithuania and Sweden, so they fit furniture exports to Sweden. Loads to Norway travel with checked partner carriers. Loads between the Baltic states and Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium also go on checked partner trucks.

  • Lithuania to Sweden: our own 2 MAN TGX trucks with curtainsider trailers, mostly full loads.
  • Lithuania to Norway: checked partner carriers. Norway is outside the EU, so the load needs customs documents.
  • Lithuania to Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium: checked partner carriers.
  • Netherlands, Belgium and Germany to Lithuania and Latvia: full truckloads with checked partner carriers.

Documents for furniture loads

Every international furniture load travels with a CMR consignment note. Furniture that moves between EU countries needs no customs declarations. Loads to Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium need the CMR and your delivery papers. Loads to Norway also need customs declarations. You get a copy of the signed CMR after delivery.

Norway is outside the EU. A furniture load to Norway needs an EU export declaration and a Norwegian import declaration. Since 15 September 2026, every truck with goods for Norway sends transport and goods data to Norwegian Customs digitally. This system is called Digitoll. The data must arrive at the latest at the border. Tell us who makes the declarations when you book. If you have no customs broker, our partner broker can make the declarations.

How a furniture load runs

A furniture load with RNJ Transport runs in six steps, from your request to the signed CMR and one invoice. One contact person follows the load from start to end. You talk to us, not to the carrier. We give the driver the warehouse slot and the booking number before the truck leaves.

  1. You send the order details

Send the loading metres or pallets, the packing, the stacking rules, the addresses and the delivery slot.

  2. We plan the truck and the price

We choose the truck: our own truck to Sweden or a partner truck. You get the price.

  3. You confirm in writing

You confirm the price and the stops, and send a written transport order.

  4. Truck numbers and the slot

We send you the truck and trailer plate numbers. The driver gets the slot time and the booking number.

  5. We follow the load

We follow loading, the trip and unloading. If the arrival time changes, we tell you and the warehouse before the slot.

  6. Signed CMR and one invoice

The warehouse counts the packages and signs the CMR. You get a copy and one invoice from RNJ Transport.

What sets the price of a furniture load

Furniture is priced by floor space in loading metres. It fills a trailer by volume long before it reaches the weight limit. To get loading metres, multiply the length of the goods by their width, in metres, and divide by 2.4. Stackable goods use less floor. Cartons on the floor take longer to load than pallets, so loading time counts too.

Extra pickups or drops, a fixed warehouse slot, waiting time and the route also change the price. One truck can stop at several addresses when they lie on one route. We confirm the stops with the price. Call us or request a callback with the route, the date and the load size.

Our Prices page lists every factor.

  3. Packing: pallets, cartons on the floor or pieces wrapped in film
  4. Stacking rule for each package

Frequently asked questions

  1. How is furniture transport priced?

By floor space, in loading metres. Furniture fills a trailer by volume long before it reaches the weight limit. One euro pallet (1,200 × 800 mm) uses 0.4 loading metres, and a standard curtainsider has about 13.6. Send the pallet or carton sizes and the stacking rules, and we calculate the space.

  2. Can you load cartons without pallets?

Yes. Cartons can travel on the trailer floor, stacked by hand. Loading by hand takes longer than loading pallets, so tell us when you book. We then plan the loading time with the carrier. Cartons and pallets can travel together on one truck. Mark the stacking limit on each carton, so the cartons at the bottom stay undamaged.

  3. Do you take furniture to Sweden on your own trucks?

Yes, when the dates fit. Our own trucks run mostly full loads between Lithuania and Sweden. Other loads to Sweden go with checked partner carriers. In both cases, you have one contact person and one invoice from RNJ Transport. You get a copy of the signed CMR after delivery.

  4. Do furniture loads to Norway need customs?

Yes. Norway is outside the EU, so a load needs an EU export declaration and a Norwegian import declaration. Since 15 September 2026, every truck with goods for Norway sends transport and goods data to Norwegian Customs digitally. Tell us who makes the declarations when you book.

  5. Can one truck collect from several factories or deliver to several stores?

Yes, when the addresses lie on one route. Send all addresses when you ask for a price. We confirm the stops together with the price. Each extra stop adds time at loading or unloading, so it changes the price. Put the goods for each stop together on the trailer. Write the order of the stops and a contact person for each address.

  6. How do I protect furniture from moisture?

Wrap it in film and keep it on pallets where you can. A curtainsider trailer is covered but not insulated. Film protects against moisture and dust. Corner protectors keep edges and corners whole. Check that the trailer floor is clean and dry before loading starts. Tell us about any special packing when you book.

  7. Can you deliver to a warehouse booking slot?

Yes. Send the slot time and the booking number when you book. We give them to the driver before the truck leaves. We follow the load on the road. If the arrival time changes, we tell you and the warehouse before the slot. If the warehouse works without slots, send its opening hours. Waiting time at the warehouse changes the price, so we agree the arrival time early.
