Road route from Lithuania to Greece

The road route from Klaipėda to Athens is about 2,940 km. The truck drives through Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania and crosses the Danube on the bridge between Calafat and Vidin. It passes Sofia, enters Greece at Promachonas and follows motorways past Thessaloniki to Athens. The whole route is inside the EU.

Bulgaria and Romania have been full Schengen members since 1 January 2025. All countries on this route are in the EU and in the Schengen area.

A route through Serbia and North Macedonia is about as long. On it, EU goods leave the EU and need a transit declaration in NCTS or a TIR carnet.

Greece uses the same time as Lithuania all year. When it is 10:00 in Klaipėda, it is also 10:00 in Athens.

Tolls and driving bans for trucks in Greece

Greek motorways have toll stations along the road. At each station, the price depends on the vehicle category, and trucks with 4 or more axles have their own category. Drivers pay in cash, by card or with an electronic tag. Our price includes the tolls.

During holiday periods, trucks over 3.5 t may not use selected motorway and national road sections in Greece. The Hellenic Police announce each ban before the holiday, with its roads, days and hours. In 2026, for example, a ban covered the Easter period. We plan loading and delivery days around these bans.

In winter weather with snow or ice, the police can close some roads to trucks over 3.5 t for a time.

Documents for loads between Lithuania and Greece

Both countries are in the EU customs territory, so EU goods travel between them without an export declaration and without customs formalities. Every load travels with a CMR consignment note. Add the invoice and a packing list, so the receiver can check the goods at delivery.

If the route crosses a country outside the EU, the load travels with a transit document. Goods from outside the EU that are not yet cleared also need a transit document. Tell us before loading.
