Belgian kilometre charge
Belgium charges trucks over 3.5 tonnes per kilometre. Viapass coordinates the charge for the three regions, and each region sets its own rates. The charge applies on the roads of Flanders and the Brussels region and on part of the road network in Wallonia. Each truck pays through an on-board unit (OBU) from an accredited provider.
The Flemish and Brussels charges are taxes without VAT. The Walloon charge is a fee plus VAT. Since 1 July 2026, the Flemish rates also depend on the truck’s CO2 class. On 1 January 2027, Wallonia indexes its rates, and Brussels plans no indexation for 2027.
An on-board unit that works only for the Dutch toll is not accredited in Belgium. A truck that drives in both countries needs a unit for each system, or one provider accredited in both. The carrier pays the charge. Road tolls are part of the one price we agree for your load.
| Region | Roads | EUR per km |
|---|---|---|
| Flanders | Toll roads in Flanders | 0.285 |
| Wallonia | Toll roads in Wallonia | 0.205 plus VAT |
| Brussels region | Motorways | 0.171 |
| Brussels region | All other roads | 0.271 |
Driving rules for trucks in Belgium
Belgium has no general truck driving ban on weekends or public holidays. Trucks over 7.5 tonnes may not overtake on motorways and dual carriageways when there is rain, snow or drizzle. Local rules still apply, for example city zones and road signs. On the way to Lithuania, the truck crosses Germany, which has a Sunday ban for trucks.
In Germany, trucks over 7.5 tonnes may not drive on Sundays and public holidays from 00:00 to 22:00, with some exceptions. Our article on holiday driving bans lists the German and Polish dates around Christmas and New Year. We plan the loading day with these bans in mind.

Documents for loads between Lithuania and Belgium
Both countries are in the EU customs territory, so EU goods travel between them without an export declaration and without customs formalities. Every load travels with a CMR consignment note. Add the invoice and a packing list, so the receiver can check the goods at delivery.
If the route crosses a country outside the EU, the load travels with a transit document. Goods from outside the EU that are not yet cleared also need a transit document. Tell us before loading.
