Road tolls for trucks in Spain
Spain charges tolls only on some motorway sections, the autopistas de peaje (AP). The toll depends on the vehicle type and the distance, and on some roads also on the time of day. Drivers pay by card, in cash or with a VIA-T electronic tag. Spain uses no vignette for its roads.
Since 1 September 2021, the AP-7 from Tarragona to La Jonquera and the AP-2 from Zaragoza to El Vendrell have no tolls. With this change, the state roads in Catalonia have no tolls. The price we give you includes the tolls on the route, and you get one invoice from RNJ Transport.
Truck driving bans and winter rules in Spain
Spain has no general weekend ban for trucks. Each year, the traffic authority DGT lists road sections, days and hours when trucks over 7.5 t may not drive. The 2026 list includes holiday weekends and summer Sundays on some roads, and sections of the A-1 near Madrid. Catalonia, the Basque Country and Navarre set their own restrictions.
Some transports are exempt from the DGT bans. Examples are live animals, and perishable goods in ATP vehicles. The perishable goods must fill at least half of the load capacity or volume. Ask us how a ban affects your delivery date.
In snow, ice, fog or strong wind, trucks over 3.5 t must use the right lane and may not overtake. In bad weather, the DGT can also restrict some types of vehicles on a road.

Documents for loads between Lithuania and Spain
Both countries are in the EU customs territory, so EU goods travel between them without an export declaration and without customs formalities. Every load travels with a CMR consignment note. Add the invoice and a packing list, so the receiver can check the goods at delivery.
If the route crosses a country outside the EU, the load travels with a transit document. Goods from outside the EU that are not yet cleared also need a transit document. Tell us before loading.
Frequently asked questions
-
Do I need customs documents for a load between Lithuania and Spain?
No. Spain and Lithuania are both in the EU, so EU goods need no export declaration and no customs formalities. A CMR consignment note travels with every load. Add the invoice and a packing list for the goods. If your goods come from outside the EU and are not cleared yet, tell us before loading.
-
How long does a truck drive from Lithuania to Madrid?
About 85 hours with two drivers, for about 3,470 km at 60 km/h. This is driving time under the EU rules on driving and rest, not a delivery promise. One driver needs longer, because the trip also needs a weekly rest. Loading, waiting and driving bans add time. We give you the planned delivery date with the price.
-
Can trucks drive in Spain at weekends?
Yes, on most roads. Spain has no general weekend ban for trucks. The DGT bans trucks over 7.5 t only on listed road sections, on set days and hours, for example on some holiday weekends. Catalonia, the Basque Country and Navarre set their own restrictions. Ask us how they affect your dates.
-
Do trucks pay tolls in Spain?
Yes, on the toll motorway sections (AP). The toll depends on the vehicle type, the distance and, on some roads, the time of day. Drivers pay by card, in cash or with a VIA-T tag. Since September 2021, the state roads in Catalonia have no tolls. The price we give you includes the tolls on the route.
-
Which border crossing does a truck to Spain use?
The delivery address decides. The fastest road route to Madrid enters Spain at Irun, on the Atlantic side of the Pyrenees. The fastest route to Barcelona enters Spain on the AP-7 at La Jonquera, on the Mediterranean side. We plan the route for your loading and delivery addresses.
