Road tolls and truck rules on the route to Ukraine
On the route to Ukraine, tolls apply in Lithuania and Poland. In Poland, trucks over 3.5 t pay the e-TOLL per kilometre on toll roads. In Lithuania, carriers buy time-based vignettes until 31 December 2026. From 1 January 2027, the Lithuanian Via Toll charges per kilometre. The price we give you includes the tolls on the route.
Poland bans vehicles over 12 t from 08:00 to 22:00 on the public holidays listed in its regulation. Poland also has summer weekend bans for vehicles over 12 t.
In Ukraine, a seasonal rule can limit heavy trucks on state roads in the daytime on very hot days. The rule protects the road surface. Ask us how it affects your dates.
Customs documents for loads between Lithuania and Ukraine
Ukraine is outside the EU customs territory, so every load needs customs declarations on both sides. A load to Ukraine needs an EU export declaration and a Ukrainian import declaration. Between the two customs offices, the goods can travel with a transit declaration in NCTS (common transit) or a TIR carnet. We arrange the customs declarations with a trusted partner.
Ukraine joined the Common Transit Convention on 1 October 2022. Since then, one transit declaration in NCTS can cover the trip from the customs office in the EU to the customs office in Ukraine. Before booking, we explain which documents your load needs. Send the invoice and the commodity codes before loading, so the declarations are ready on time.
Goods that meet the rules of origin can pay lower or no customs duty under the EU–Ukraine free trade area. They then need a proof of origin, such as an origin declaration on the invoice. Tell us the origin of the goods before loading, so the customs partner can check this.
