Road freight for companies in Kalvarija, at the gate to Poland

Kalvarija is the Lithuanian town at the Via Baltica crossing into Poland, about 15 km from the border, and RNJ Transport loads full truckloads for its dairy, flour, bakery and wood firms. Via Lietuva calls the road here one of the busiest stretches of Via Baltica. Klaipėda is about 295 km away, and Marijampolė about 18 km.

  • Farmland covers 73.4% of Kalvarija municipality.

Kalvarija and the Via Baltica crossing

Kalvarija is the last Lithuanian town on Via Baltica before Poland. The Kalvarija–Budzisko crossing is the main truck gate between Lithuania and Poland, and up to 10,000 vehicles a day use the stretch from Marijampolė, half of them trucks. The road is being upgraded to four lanes in stages, with a new two-level junction near the town.

Local industry and the loads we carry

Food processing leads in Kalvarija. Local firms process milk, mill flour and bake bread and pastry, and a dairy plant from Marijampolė runs a workshop in the town. Wood processing completes the list. Most of the municipality is farmland, and its minerals are peat, sand, gravel and clay. Flour, bakery goods and wood products make palletised full loads.

Chilled dairy rides with a checked partner’s refrigerated trailer. Loose sand and gravel are tipper loads, outside our service.

Frequently asked questions

  1. Can you collect a load in Kalvarija on its way to Poland or Germany?

Yes. Kalvarija sits right on the road our partner trucks use between the Baltic states and Western Europe. We load in the town and cross into Poland within minutes of leaving. Send us the address and the day you load, and a single contact on our team handles the booking.

  2. What is the road distance from Kalvarija to the Polish border?

About 15 km by road on Via Baltica. Marijampolė is about 18 km to the north, and Kaunas about 81 km. For loads from southern Lithuania to Poland, Germany or the Benelux, Kalvarija is the natural last stop before the border.

  3. Do you carry flour, bread and dairy from Kalvarija?

Yes. Flour in bags and bakery goods in crates go on curtainsider trailers. For chilled dairy we book a checked partner with refrigerated trailers, as our own trailers have none. List the pallets and say whether the goods need cooling.

  4. Do you also drive Kalvarija loads north, to Klaipėda or Latvia?

Yes. Klaipėda is about 295 km north, by Marijampolė, Kaunas and then the A1 motorway. For Latvia, the truck stays on Via Baltica all the way to Grenctāle, through Kaunas and Panevėžys. Our own trucks can take domestic loads, and checked partners drive to Latvia and Estonia.
