Industry in Marijampolė sits in the north-east of the city, in three clusters listed below. Two export plants stand out. A dairy makes condensed milk, milk powder, butter and cream and sends about 90% abroad. A window and door factory in the free economic zone, with about 340 staff in 2022, supplies the UK, Scandinavia and Germany.

The free economic zone is the only one in the south of Lithuania, and the window factory uses most of it. The municipality makes about 1.6% of Lithuania’s industrial output.

Via Baltica, the A16 and the European-gauge railway

Marijampolė is the meeting point of Via Baltica and the A16. As the A5, Via Baltica leads north to Kaunas, about 59 km, and south to the border crossing at Kalvarija. The A16 leads east through Prienai to Vilnius. Via Lietuva is upgrading Via Baltica to four lanes in stages.

The European-gauge Rail Baltica line runs through Marijampolė towards Poland and Kaunas, and the Mockava rail terminal is about 34 km away. RNJ Transport moves the goods by road. Swedish loads head north to the Klaipėda ferry, with our own trucks used when possible.

    Yes. Canned condensed milk and milk powder are ambient goods, so they travel on a standard curtainsider. Fresh butter and cream that need cooling go on a checked partner reefer. Cans are heavy, so give us the weight per pallet together with the delivery address.
