Distances: the road route in OpenStreetMap (OSRM), from city centre to city centre, checked on 24 October 2026. Routes from Poland and further west enter Lithuania at the Budzisko and Kalvarija crossing. Driving time: 60 km/h on average with the breaks the EU rules require, without loading, queues or ferries. Jurbarkas industry and wood products

Jurbarkas holds most of its district’s industry. Wood processing is the town’s best-known industry, and local firms make pallet blanks, solid-wood furniture, windows, doors and stairs. Other plants make building materials, meat products, beer, bread and confectionery, sewn goods and processed flax. Full loads leave the town with wood products, building materials and food.

Jurbarkas belongs to Žemaitija, while Smalininkai and Viešvilė, in the west of the district, belong to Lithuania Minor. About 11,200 people live in the town.

The Nemunas bridge and the road south to Poland

A road bridge over the Nemunas, built in 1978, links Jurbarkas with the south bank. From there, roads lead through Šakiai and Marijampolė to Via Baltica and the Polish border at Kalvarija. Loads for Poland, Germany and the Benelux leave Jurbarkas by this road with checked partner carriers.

Kaunas lies about 87 km east along the Nemunas. There, the road meets the A1 to Vilnius and Via Baltica to Riga.

River freight and oversized items

Jurbarkas has no railway, but it lies on the Nemunas inland waterway. The state waterways authority runs cargo voyages between Kaunas and Klaipėda on this river route, including oversized and heavy loads. We carry goods by road only, on standard curtainsider trailers.     Closer to Poland. By road, Kalvarija on the Polish border is about 110 km away, through the Nemunas bridge, Šakiai and Marijampolė. Klaipėda is about 160 km to the west. A checked partner carrier drives loads for Poland and Western Europe. For Klaipėda port, we use one of our own trucks if one is available.

  2. Do you carry pallet blanks and wood products from Jurbarkas?
