Distances: the road route in OpenStreetMap (OSRM), from city centre to city centre, checked on 24 October 2026. Routes from Poland and further west enter Lithuania at the Budzisko and Kalvarija crossing. Driving time: 60 km/h on average with the breaks the EU rules require, without loading, queues or ferries. Industry in Skuodas, Mosėdis and Ylakiai

Food plants are the biggest part of industry in Skuodas district. The district also has makers of wood products, rubber products, plastics, faux fur and sewn goods. Most of them work in three towns: Skuodas, Mosėdis and Ylakiai. In Skuodas itself, a rubber-products plant and a construction firm are the main companies.

Skuodas is small, with about 5,100 people in the town and 14,700 in the whole municipality. For investors, the municipality lists free municipal and state land plots on its business pages.

Roads from Skuodas into Latvia and towards the port

Skuodas lies next to the Latvian border. A road runs north from the town to Priekule in Latvia, about 25 km away. Other roads lead to Kretinga, Mažeikiai and Plungė, and the road between Kretinga and Mažeikiai crosses the district. To the south-west, the Būtingė crossing near the coast is about 43 km away.

The Polish border at Kalvarija is about 330 km from Skuodas. So loads for Germany can also travel by ferry from Klaipėda to Kiel. We compare both ways for each load.

How a load runs from Skuodas

    The driver collects the load with the consignment note, a CMR note on international loads. If anything changes, we call you.

  6. Delivery and one invoice

    After delivery you get the signed consignment note and one invoice from RNJ Transport.

Frequently asked questions

  1. Which roads lead from Skuodas into Latvia?

    The nearest is the road north to Priekule, about 25 km from Skuodas. The Būtingė crossing near the coast and the Ezere crossing through Mažeikiai are the other two. We choose the crossing by the delivery address. Checked partner carriers drive our loads to Latvia and Estonia.

  2. Do you carry rubber and plastic products from Skuodas to Scandinavia?

    Yes. Rubber and plastic products packed on pallets make a typical curtainsider load. For Sweden, our own trucks travel from Klaipėda on the Karlshamn ferry when they are free. Loads for Norway go with a checked partner carrier, plus a partner customs broker for the documents Norway needs.

  3. Can you take a few pallets from Skuodas?

    Usually not. RNJ Transport sells full truckloads. We take a smaller load only when it fits a truck we already plan on that route. Send the pallet count, the weight and the dates, and we tell you whether such a truck is planned.

  4. Do you bring materials to Skuodas or Mosėdis from Germany?

    Yes. We plan full loads from Germany to any address in Skuodas district, including Mosėdis and Ylakiai, with checked partner carriers. The truck takes the road through Poland or the Kiel ferry to Klaipėda, whichever suits the dates. Send us both addresses and the size of the load.

  5. Is Skuodas too far from Klaipėda for port loads?

    No. Skuodas is about 75 km from Klaipėda by road. We collect full loads in Skuodas for the port terminals and for the ferries to Sweden and Germany. We also bring import loads from the port to the district. Send the terminal and the date in the request form.
