Road freight for companies in Kretinga and Palanga

RNJ Transport takes full truckloads for companies in Kretinga to Klaipėda port, about 25 km away. Other loads go to Lithuanian cities, Latvia and Western Europe. Local plants make compound feed, fish products, beer and textiles. We collect in Palanga too, 12 km to the west. Each load travels with our own truck or a checked partner’s.

Kretinga industry: feed, fish, beer and stone

Kretinga is the largest industrial centre of its district, which makes about 0.9% of Lithuania’s industrial output. Plants make compound feed, poultry feed and protein-vitamin supplements, fish products, beer, textiles and wood products. Quarries in the district produce crushed stone and gravel. The district also has a poultry farm at Kurmaičiai and a fruit-tree nursery.

Kretinga belongs to Žemaitija. The historical boundary of Lithuania Minor runs along the south-western edge of the town, and neighbouring Kretingalė lies on the other side.

Kretinga, the port and the ferries

The port of Klaipėda lies south of Kretinga, and roads link the town with Klaipėda, Gargždai, Palanga and Skuodas. Both the A11 and the EU core rail line from Šiauliai to Klaipėda pass through Kretinga. From the port, truck ferries cross the Baltic Sea to Sweden and Germany. Our own trucks sail on the Klaipėda–Karlshamn route.

Loads for Poland leave Lithuania at Kalvarija after a drive along the A1 and Via Baltica. For Germany, partner carriers also weigh the Kiel ferry against the road.

Palanga and the Būtingė crossing to Latvia

Palanga, 12 km west of Kretinga, is a resort town where services and tourism make up most of the economy. Its industry is small: bread, wood processing, and amber and shell crafts. North of Palanga, the coastal road to Liepāja crosses into Latvia at Būtingė, with Rucava on the Latvian side. A bypass takes transit trucks around the resort.

We deliver full loads to Palanga and collect there, for example building materials, equipment or supplies for hotels and shops.

Frequently asked questions

  1. How far is Kretinga from Klaipėda and from Latvia?

About 25 km from Klaipėda and about 28 km from the Būtingė crossing to Latvia, both by road. We plan loads in both directions: south to the port terminals and ferries, and north to Liepāja, Riga or Estonia. Loads to Latvia and Estonia go with checked partner carriers.

  2. Do you carry compound feed and fish products from Kretinga?

Yes. Feed in bags or big bags on pallets travels as a normal full load on a curtainsider trailer. Chilled or frozen fish travels in a refrigerated trailer from a checked partner, since our own trailers are curtainsiders. Tell us the product, the packing and the delivery country in the request form.

  3. Do you deliver to Palanga?

Yes, full truckloads for companies. Palanga is a resort town with little industry. Most loads there are deliveries, such as building materials, equipment, or goods for shops and hotels. Parcels and private household goods are outside our service. Give the delivery address and any access times for trucks in the town.

  4. Can you take Kretinga loads to Sweden?

Yes. Klaipėda has truck ferries to two Swedish ports, Karlshamn and Trelleborg. Our own trucks cross on the Karlshamn route when they are free. If not, we hire a checked partner carrier on the dates you need, and you pay one invoice to RNJ Transport.
