The A6, the core railway and the Kaunas terminal

Jonava sits on the A6, the road from Kaunas to Ukmergė, Utena and Daugavpils, with Kaunas 32 km to the south-west and Vilnius about 92 km away. The EU core railway from Gaižiūnai to Kėdainiai and Radviliškis runs through the town, and a branch serves the industrial area. The nearest container terminal is in Kaunas, at Palemonas.

For Poland, trucks pass Kaunas and follow Via Baltica to Kalvarija, about 130 km from Jonava. Klaipėda port is reached on the A1 from Kaunas. Land for the planned Rail Baltica line is being prepared in Jonava district.

Frequently asked questions

  1. Can you move fertiliser or chemical loads from Jonava?

    No. Fertilisers, acids and other chemicals that are classed as dangerous goods (ADR) need an ADR carrier, which RNJ Transport is not. We carry the town’s other goods: packaging, furniture, wood products, textiles, foam and bagged feed. Tell us the product, and we confirm before you book.

  2. Can you take packaging or furniture from Jonava to Sweden?

    Yes. Packaging and furniture are light for their size, so we plan them by floor space on a curtainsider. Our own trucks drive Swedish loads when one is free, crossing from Klaipėda to Karlshamn. Tell us how many pallets you have and the day you load.

  3. Is Jonava a good place to receive Benelux deliveries?

    Yes. Our main lane runs from the Benelux into Lithuania, and Jonava is only 32 km past Kaunas on the A6. Our checked partner trucks arrive by Via Baltica and Kaunas. Name the supplier, the plant in Jonava and the dates in your request.

  4. Can you bring a load from Jonava to the Palemonas terminal in Kaunas?

    Yes. The Kaunas Intermodal Terminal is about 32 km away, and we deliver by road to its gate on the time slot the rail operator gives you. We also collect goods that arrive there by rail. The rail booking stays with you or your forwarder.
