Metal, wood and food in Ukmergė

Industry in the district is concentrated in the town of Ukmergė. Metalworking leads, helped by a Norwegian-owned industrial park on Pašilės street. The park has run since 2004 on a former factory site and added a new building with a sheet-metal line. Other firms make wood products, bread and dairy, sew clothing and process furs and leather.

Road building and gravel extraction are local trades too, but loose gravel is a tipper load that we do not carry.

Two main roads and no railway

Ukmergė lies at the crossing of two main roads. On the E272 route, the A2 connects Vilnius in the south with Panevėžys and Via Baltica in the north. The A6, part of the E262 route, runs south-west to Kaunas and north-east to Utena, Zarasai and Daugavpils. With no railway in the town, trucks carry all its freight.

For Latvia, the A6 towards Daugavpils reaches the border at Medumi after about 117 km, and Via Baltica reaches Grenctāle after about 142 km. Poland is about 165 km away at Kalvarija, through Kaunas.

Frequently asked questions

  1. Do you take metal products from Ukmergė to Klaipėda port?

Yes. Klaipėda is about 270 km from Ukmergė, by the A6 to Kaunas and then the A1. Our own trucks handle such port runs and Karlshamn ferry loads whenever they have room in the plan. Send the weight of the heaviest crate with your request.

  2. Can you bring sheet metal from Germany to the Ukmergė industrial park?

Yes. German loads into the Baltic states are among our main routes, driven by partner carriers we check first. The truck comes through Poland, Kalvarija and Kaunas. Coils and sheet bundles are heavy, so give the exact weight and the number of pieces.

  3. Which road to Latvia is better from Ukmergė?

Usually the A6 for eastern Latvia and Via Baltica for Riga. For Daugavpils and eastern Latvia, the A6 through Utena and Zarasai is shorter, about 117 km to the border. For Riga, the A2 and Via Baltica through Panevėžys work better. We plan the route with our checked partner for each load.

  4. Do you carry clothing and leather goods from Ukmergė?

Yes. Clothing, furs and leather goods in cartons on pallets are light, so a full trailer is planned by floor space. Typical delivery points are warehouses in Vilnius and Kaunas, and buyers in Germany, the Benelux and Scandinavia. Tell us the carton count and the pallet sizes.
