Distances: the road route in OpenStreetMap (OSRM), from city centre to city centre, checked on 24 October 2026. Routes from Poland and further west enter Lithuania at the Budzisko and Kalvarija crossing. Driving time: 60 km/h on average with the breaks the EU rules require, without loading, queues or ferries. It is not a delivery promise.

Panevėžys industry and the free economic zone

Panevėžys has a wide manufacturing base. Plants make insulated wire and cable, trailer bodies, automotive compressors, electrical switchgear, plastics and rubber, windows, doors and glass structures. Food plants make wheat starch, malt and beer. Invest Lithuania names the region as a supplier of metal and electrical parts to the heavy-vehicle industry, and adds soft furniture, mattresses and textiles.

Today the zone has 46.95 ha, and its tenants include a Norwegian furniture group, a Norwegian textile maker, a secure-packaging maker and a metal-equipment maker. The city plans a much larger zone next to a future Rail Baltica terminal, but that is a plan, not a site you can ship from today.

Via Baltica, the E272 and the railway

Two main routes cross in Panevėžys. Via Baltica runs south on the A8 to Kaunas and Poland and north on the A10 through Pasvalys to Riga, and the A17 bypass of 22 km takes trucks around the city. On the E272 route, Panevėžys connects with Vilnius to the south-east and Šiauliai to the west.

By road, Riga is about 152 km away and the Saločiai–Grenctāle crossing about 71 km. Kalvarija, on the Polish border, lies about 195 km to the south. Panevėžys station is on the railway towards Rokiškis and Latvia, and a Rail Baltica freight hub near the city is planned.

Frequently asked questions

  1. Can you take furniture or textiles from Panevėžys to Norway?

    Yes. A checked partner carrier drives the load, and the usual way runs through Klaipėda and the ferry to Sweden. Goods that leave the EU customs territory for Norway need customs papers at both ends. A partner customs broker handles them, booked in the same order as the truck.

  2. Can a load from Panevėžys go north to Riga?

    Yes. Riga is about 152 km north on the A10, through Pasvalys and the Saločiai–Grenctāle crossing. Checked partner carriers drive this route, and one person in our team handles your booking. Give the Riga address, the loading date and the load size when you send the request.

  3. Is Klaipėda port within reach from Panevėžys?

    Yes. The port is about 240 km away by road. If one of our own trucks is free, it takes the load to the port or to the Karlshamn ferry. If not, we arrange a checked partner. For a terminal delivery, tell us which terminal, which day and how many pallets.

  4. Do you deliver Benelux components to Panevėžys plants?

    Yes. Our main route brings Benelux goods into Lithuania. A partner truck, checked before the load, comes through Poland and Kaunas on Via Baltica to your plant in Panevėžys. Tell us the supplier’s address, the dates and the pallet count.

  5. Can you load at the new Rail Baltica terminal?

    No, not yet. The Rail Baltica freight hub near Panevėžys is still a plan, so there is no terminal to load at today. Until then we collect at plants, warehouses and the zone, and we keep track of the project.
